Diet Secrets

Diet Secrets

There are a few things about diets that are complex in nature, and it is the very same that often confuse people. People that are desperate to loose weight often believe anything that they are told; they do not give themselves time to understand what they are about to purchase. It is the very same mindset that is used by sellers to cash-in without necessarily helping to address a serious problem. With diets, one shoe doesn’t fit all because our genes differ, and even more so in males and females. The bottom line is our genetic composition is just not the same. All diets don’t work, and could have a negative impact on your health.
There are all sorts of diets on the market, but is advisable to rather get onto a Weight-Loss or Weight Management Plan. This will help to provide time to achieve short,-medium, and long-term goals. Because setting goals first will help you to be clear on what you ultimately want to achieve through your Weight Management Plan including your quick wins of losing 3 pounds per week.
In celebrity circles the following diets might be familiar, as some big names like Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, and others are on such diets. These are Lemonade Diet, The Blood Type Diet, Raw Food Diet, and The 30% Fat Diet.  LEMONADE DIET – Beyoncé once said on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she lost 18 pounds instantly, using the Lemonade Diet. So if you are on this diet you drink only a cocktail of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, filtered hot water and lemon juice for 10 days. The cayenne pepper accelerates metabolism and increase blood flow consequently. While the lemon juice on the other hand releasing waste. Just think of how effective your liquid dish soap with lemon is when you are washing those greasy plates. It really removes the fatty deposits with much more ease. The maple syrup is a good energy source. But let’s look at how effective this type of diet really is.
BLOOD TYPE DIET – Lectins are a type of protein found in diary products, wheat and meat. This protein reacts differently to various blood types, resulting in a range of problems that include increased weight and sluggishness. This diet suggests that people in Blood Group A should eat more vegetarian foods and exclude diary and red meat from their diet. Blood Group B type on the other hand should cut out wheat, but thrives on diary products. The interesting thing is that people within the O-Type needs a meat-rich diet. But the fact is that if you are cutting out major food groups, it is bad for your health and energy levels too. With many diets the tendency is for people to eat lesser, but generally eliminate a number of essentials from their normal daily diet. If you are suggesting certain food components for specific blood types, it is more of a sales gimmick, because weight problems are mainly a result of genetic composition of an individual, and other key contributing factors. We however admit that things like bad eating habits, malnutrition, stress, and other key factors are contributing to this challenge.  Many of these Blood-type-diets are simply kilojoules-cutting eating plans with a camouflaged name. The reason why people feel it is working, because they are paying attention to eating better.
RAW FOOD DIET – General theory is when food is cooked above 460 C it loses enzymes that promote digestion and absorption of essential nutrients. Any food below 460 C is considered raw; water simmers from 600 C. People who are on this diet have 80 percent of their food uncooked. They use soaking to release enzymes in dried fruits and nuts. According to them they feel healthier with more physical and mental energy. We admit that heat, and in some cases excessive heat destroys some of the nutrients in food, but it is a myth that raw vegetables are healthier. The fact is that some of these fresh produce need heat to be properly absorbed. For instance, veggies like carrots are better cooked than raw. Raw food diets could lead to nutritional deficiencies, as the body is challenged with its absorption, resulting in pour absorption of essential vitamins. The diet is however high in vegetable intake and low in kilojoules, and this could assist with weight loss. The fact that this diet cuts out protein-enriched food components, it is not suitable for pregnant women and children as protein is essential for growth of new tissue.
THE 30% FAT DIET – Some research suggests to keep off weight a moderate fat restriction of up to 30 percent is effective for long-term weight control. This effectively means limiting your overall kilojoules intake to 30 percent. People on this diet add up their daily fat intake or follow a low fat eating plan. This diet would work well. You can drastically lose kilojoules, because fat contains twice as many kilojoules than protein and carbohydrates. You should however be mindful that not all fats are harmful; on the contrary, healthy fats can assist with better satiety and better blood sugar regulation, and weight loss.

Mothers'Day

Mother's Day is a special day for not only biological mothers, those who adopted a child, guardians, it is applicable on ALL WOMEN who are mothering a child. Very little recognition and reward is given to females who are heading households as parents. The fact of the matter is that some of these women were forced by societal circumstance to give up their own life and convenience to take care of younger brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, etc.

We are also reminded of the many institutions for the destitute, orphanages, care centers, and so forth - where professional and ordinary women are giving care to victims and other adversely affected individuals and families. A lot of these people are mothered by strangers who are either employed by these centers, or those who are volunteering there services.

On this Mother's Day we want to acknowledge the contribution of moms to societies across the globe, within the above context, and just want to say: We appreciate your unconditional love, selfless sacrifice, constant support, wisdom, advice and your warm embrace.

Like Christmas, this is a day to show how much we appreciate our moms. Let Mother's Day be a culmination of giving that took place throughout the year, and not only today when we are all acknowledging the contribution of mothers. Many people around the world will agree that so many special days like Mother's Day became more commercialized, but lost it's meaning and value long ago.

May we take the opportunity to wish all our Moms a Happy Mother's Day. May the love, special care, and gifts from your family and others bring new meaning, colour and flavour to your motherhood. Enjoy the pampering!
